Learn why water recycling matters!

The LADWP feels that water recycling has become one of the least expensive and most feasible sources of additional water, and is essential to the city’s water supply future. We need your voice and presence in this all-important meeting!

You are invited to join the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the Green Committee of the Mar Vista Community Council for a LADWP Presentation on Recycled Water & Groundwater Replenishment! This will be an important component to our future water access and this is our chance to influence the direction it takes.

The meeting will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday June 22nd. Location is the Bundy Campus of Santa Monica College in the Multimedia Room (Room 123). No need to RSVP but if you need more information contact Chuck Ray at Chuck@MarVista.org.

ZAP - This is a blower free zone!

ZAP is a grassroots public service website with speakers that provide education regarding the ban on gas leaf (dirt) blowers within 500 feet of a residence in L.A. Come by and meet them at the Green Booth on Sunday June 20th - learn about the reasons the ban was enacted; the health problems associated with the spread of Particulate Matter, even by electric blowers; and the reasonable 10-15% time differences, if any, between blower use and rakes and brooms.

ZAP encourages reporting violations to 311 or 877.ASK.LAPD so that enforcement officers can include those violators when they are able to take action. They also encourage the use of gardeners and landscapers who honor a request for “green” upkeep planning and techniques, and who are willing not to use any blowers.

Stop by and learn how you can help to make a difference!

Were you able to come by the booth last week and meet the kids from New School West? Check out their interview with Gary Walker of the Argonaut on this video and read the article he wrote for the paper here. Councilman Bill Rosendahl will be displaying their posters at the West LA Municipal Gallery - we'll let you know when they are up.

The kids are eager to get their message out. If you have any ideas of other ways these posters can be used for public service, write to us and we will put you in touch with the school.
