This is a very low maintenance garden. Every once in a while they trim back a few branches or add a new plant, but the homeowners never water their garden.

A few years ago, they took advantage of the Los Angeles DWP Turf RemovalProgram. They spent a few months pulling out their traditional front lawn grass and then covered the bare yard with wood chips. Their landscaping strategy consisted of visiting nurseries and garden centers to hunt down plants that were identified as drought resistant. The incentive they received from DWP more than paid for the cost of the wood chips and plants.

They are very happy they no longer expend time, energy, and resources to maintain their garden
