This is the owners' first garden. When they bought the house, the front yard was
covered in ivy. They hired some workmen to help clear and
turn the soil, and cover the whole yard with weed barrier cloth. They looked at
other gardens in the area, and picked succulents that were growing well nearby.
They planted the first round of flax, jade plants, cacti, and ice plant. Since then, the owners have filled with various other plants.
There is no watering
system. The owner waters once a week in the summer. Weeding is minimal,
but necessary. Maintenance also includes clearing leaves from the sycamore and
keeping the redwood trimmed.
